Musters Road pedestrian crossing gets the go-ahead

Over 1000 people signed a petiton calling for the crossing, to allow pupils, parents, teachers and local residents to cross one of the busiest Road in West Bridgford safely, and this was presented on behalf of the community by Cllr Jonathan Wheeler, to the Council earlier this year.

The Communities and Place Committee today (1st October) gave their unanimous support, and work will take place later this month during half term to install the crossing.

Cllr Jonathan Wheeler, whose Division covers the Jessie Gray School side of Musters Road told The Wire: ‘I am delighted that this crossing will become a reality.

“The safety of local people is paramount and I have received emails and calls from many people, including pupils who haven’t felt safe crossing the road.

“Knowing this will be in place is fantastic, and adds to crossings we have on Boundary Road and Alford Road to name a few.’

Cllr Gordon Wheeler, whose Division covers the other side of Musters Road, has also welcomed the crossing and has praised the efforts of the School in achieving this:

“Jessie Gray School deserves the thanks in starting the petition and going out there getting signatures. Deputy Head Teacher Fran Moore has been a star in co-ordinating this and I am deeply thankful to everyone who played their part in getting this petition going which has shown the feeling of the community.”
