New Greggs opens in Long Eaton

A new Greggs has opened at the Long Eaton industrial hub Forbes Park thanks to an acquisition made by the leading commercial property agent Innes England.

It is the fifth deal secured in recent months between Innes England and the popular food-on-the-go retailer, with two roadside units in Newark and Beeston, as well as the relocation of two high street stores, in Beeston and Newark, that nearly doubled in square footage to accommodate more inside seating.

Sam Hall, Innes England surveyor, said: “Local high street locations have performed well, continuing to experience healthy levels of footfall – and we are also seeing strong occupier demand for prominent roadside positions on main arterial routes.

“It makes sense that many businesses are investing in these locations. This is indicative of past lockdown consumer trends with many wanting the convenience of grabbing food on the go.

“The acquisition in Long Eaton is a great example of this as, although there is seating inside, there’s a much bigger emphasis on customers who are on the move. It’s no surprise that we have acquired a streak of similar properties for Greggs as it is indicative of a larger trend.”

Greggs upsized its presence in the centre of Newark and Beeston to allow for a larger open sales area with a considerably extended offer – something the previous locations couldn’t accommodate due to size and layout.

Matt Hannah, managing director at Innes England, said: “We have worked with Greggs to drive their growth for many years and the roadside and drive-thru requirements reflect modern consumer trends – and we have further requirements to satisfy.

“As a market-leading commercial property agency, we ensure our position at the forefront of trends and industry changes is maintained so that our customers are always satisfied with the services we can offer.”

Innes England, which has offices in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Birmingham, oversees commercial property sales, lettings, investments, disposals and acquisitions.
