Nottingham business, Ditsy Pet is celebrating today after four days at Crufts, which culminated with the family-owned business being presented with an award for Best Small Trade Stand at the event.
2023 is a year of milestones for the pet accessory brand, as not only are they celebrating their 10th year of attending Crufts, but it is also their 12th year of business.
Ditsy Pet founder, Laura Stuart said:
“We were absolutely thrilled to have been awarded Best Small Trade Stand at Crufts on our 10th year at the event.
“After a tough year for small businesses, it really was amazing to receive some recognition for all our hard work and it makes us smile to think that Ditsy Pet stood out amongst the other 500 trade exhibitors.
“We couldn’t do it without our fantastic team of staff back in the workshop and our wonderful customers.”
“I can remember our very first show so clearly, and how nervous I was – it was my first experience of a major event and showcasing our products to such a big audience.
“Before Crufts, we had only exhibited at local markets and fairs, so it was a big step up but one of the best decisions we made as a business. Every year we have such a positive reaction from visitors and it’s a such great atmosphere.”
This year will also come with a tinge of sadness, as Ditsy Pet’s mascot and Stuart family pet, Seb crossed the rainbow bridge at the age of 14. Seb was Laura’s much-loved Beagle and the inspiration for starting the business; having struggled to find just the right collar and lead when he was a puppy – spurring her on to design the very first Ditsy Pet collection.
The business is also celebrating 3 happy years at a larger, Hockley-based studio, having relocated in 2020.
Previously the business had spent eight years at the Chaucer Street Workshops but with an expanding team and increased sales, more space was needed.
All of Ditsy Pet’s products are handmade in the studio with care and attention to detail.
As the business has grown, the product range has expanded to include harnesses, leads, bandanas, dickie bows and more. Twelve years after launching, Ditsy Pet has grown to a team of 6 and new styles are regularly developed for the Ditsy Pet website and wholesale customers.
