Nottingham city office block could become apartments

A unused Lace Market office block could be turned into new apartments after plans were submitted to the council.

The block, in 2-4 Weekday Cross, Lace Market, sits along the tram tracks and was used as Orion offices – the previous occupiers have moved out with the space not being used for more than three months.

It is three floors high, including a converted loft space and basement.

Applicant Arran Bailey from developer ALB Group submitted plans to Nottingham City Council yesterday (April 29) to turn the block into 18 apartments.

The flats proposed will be a mix of studios and one-bed apartments.

It is planned for the ground floor to have three one-bed flats, with the first, second and third floor proposed to have three studio apartments and two one-bed flats each.

Planning documents state developers will not make any changes to the building’s external look but will change the internal layout of the block to accommodate the apartments.

The basement level of the block is currently used as car parking for the offices with papers saying this can be used with allocated spaces would be given to future residents.

The City Council will decide on this application at a later date.
