Nottingham City Transport is the first bus operator in the city to be accepted in to a national scheme, which recognises operators who demonstrate their commitment to compliance and adherence to safety standards.
The DVSA Earned Recognition Scheme enables organisations with lorries, buses and coaches to prove they meet stringent driver and vehicle standards by showing that they have robust systems and processes in place that are continuously monitoring their own performance, promote effective and proactive transport management and being fully compliant with vehicle and road safety standards.
Earned Recognition brings many benefits to NCT including:
- Demonstration that NCT is proven to be an exemplary operator with safety at the forefront
- Proven to be compliant with all standards
- Being less likely to have vehicles stopped at the roadside
- Being less likely to have DVSA visit our premises
- Access to future DVSA incentives
Achieving Earned Recognition Status has been a year-long project across NCT, led by NCT’s Operational Compliance Manager, Natalie Monaghan-Smith, who was naturally thrilled by the news.

“Having worked on the Earned Recognition Project for nearly a year, ensuring all of our policies, procedures and systems are up to date and in line with the national standards, I am very pleased that all of the hard work has paid off.

NCT joins around 80 other bus and coach operators from across the UK who have been accepted in to the Earned Recognition Scheme, making them one of the industry’s best when it comes to safety and compliance.
