Nottingham Forest captain Ryan Yates visited St Peter’s Junior School in Ruddington to help celebrate the opening of its new £6.5 million temporary learning village.
Yates, who captained Forest during their Premier League campaign, spoke to pupils about leadership, working hard and listening to teachers during a visit to the school.
He also cut a ribbon to mark the opening of the new learning village, which was built after the school’s main building was permanently closed in December 2025 following the discovery of structural issues.

The purpose-built temporary site includes four new buildings and was completed in time for the summer term, allowing all 350 pupils to return to a single school site after several months of disruption.
Nottinghamshire County Council previously said the project was delivered by Arc Partnership on behalf of the authority, with longer-term plans still being developed for a permanent replacement school.
