Officers were called to the Texaco garage in Meadow Lane, Nottingham, at approximately 6.25pm on Wednesday (31 January) after reports of a stabbing.
Mr Khan was treated by paramedics but despite their best attempts, he died from his injuries a short time later.
Detectives are continuing to pursue several lines of inquiry and two men, aged 22 and 46, arrested on suspicion of murder within hours of the attack remain in custody – after officers were granted more time to question them.
