The main concern again this morning is Nottingham city centre, where severe delays remain possible around the Maid Marian Way demolition works.
Nottingham City Transport has now extended changes to some services after buses were taking around 30 minutes simply to negotiate the affected area.
There is no major fresh collision or emergency closure identified in the early checks on Nottinghamshire’s M1, A1, A46 or A52. Elsewhere, numerous planned works continue, including Nuthall Road, Arnold High Street, Rectory Road in West Bridgford and the A60 at Ruddington.
Maid Marian Way – severe delays remain possible
The contraflow introduced on Monday for demolition of the former Broad Marsh NCP car park remains the most significant potential congestion point in Nottingham.
Traffic is running one lane in each direction on the northbound side of Maid Marian Way, with temporary traffic signals controlling the junction.
Nottingham City Transport service updates now describe the delays caused by the works as severe and warns that further stop changes could be introduced depending on traffic conditions.
South Notts 1, Navy 4 and 48/A and Pathfinder 90 do not stop on Maid Marian Way towards the city.
Red 45/B uses the Nottingham Lighting Centre stop instead of The Salutation and Canal Street instead of the stop beneath the former car park.
Turquoise buses remain diverted
One of the most substantial changes introduced because of the congestion remains in place this morning.
Turquoise 77/C, 78/A/B and 79/B terminate at Nottingham Trent University City Campus and start their outward journeys from Upper Parliament Street stop U3.
They therefore do not serve Broad Marsh, Lace Market or Victoria Centre.
The changes followed delays of around 30 minutes through the demolition area earlier this week.
trentbarton Maid Marian Way update also warns that its services face delays through the contraflow, with the inbound St Nicholas Church stop closed during this phase of the demolition.
Roads and motorways
No major fresh incident causing widespread disruption has been identified in the early check on the M1 through Nottinghamshire, A1, A46 or A52.
Drivers should nevertheless allow for the normal increase in traffic on the A52, A453, A610 and approaches into Nottingham as the morning peak develops.
National Highways says its planned road closure information can change at short notice and was most recently updated on Wednesday afternoon.
A52 Wheatcroft
Lane restrictions remain around Wheatcroft junction as preparatory work continues for the major A52 Nottingham Knight and Wheatcroft improvement scheme.
This remains an important potential pressure point for traffic travelling between West Bridgford, Ruddington, Clifton and the A52.
West Bridgford – Rectory Road
Gas mains works continue on Rectory Road in West Bridgford.
The current traffic management remains in place until Friday 9 October, affecting Green 7, 8 and 9.

Drivers should also expect additional traffic on surrounding routes including Musters Road, Melton Road and Central Avenue as vehicles avoid the works.
Ruddington – A60 overnight closure
The overnight closure programme on the A60 Loughborough Road at Ruddington continues.
The road should have reopened for daytime traffic at 06:00 this morning, subject to the works finishing on schedule.
It closes again from 20:00 tonight until 06:00 Friday.
NCT Green 10A and 10C are affected by the overnight arrangements.
Separate drainage works on Easthorpe Street also continue today, with Green 10/C diverted between 08:00 and 16:00.
Arnold – daytime diversions
Works continue on Arnold High Street today.
Between 09:30 and 15:30, buses do not serve the Arnold High Street stop behind ASDA.
The changes affect NCT 25, 53, 54, 55, 56 and 58.
Lime 56 towards Nottingham also misses Croft Road and Ravenswood Road, diverting from Arnold Front Street via Coppice Road.
The arrangements continue through Friday 2 October.
Nuthall Road
Phase two of the major resurfacing scheme on Nuthall Road continues tonight.
Weekday closures operate between 19:00 and 06:00 until Wednesday 14 October, with the overall works listed through 15 October.
Yellow 71/B and Turquoise 79/B are affected. Nottingham City Transport
Goose Fair
Goose Fair continues at Forest Recreation Ground, with NCT warning passengers of delays to services passing close to the site through Sunday 4 October. Nottingham City Transport
Traffic is likely to become considerably heavier around Gregory Boulevard, Mansfield Road, Forest Road and the Forest Recreation Ground as the day progresses.
Trams – services running today
Trams are scheduled to serve all stops today, Thursday 1 October, although delays remain possible because of industrial action.
The published Goose Fair arrangements confirm that today is the final weekday on which trams operate before another two-day shutdown.
Services are planned from approximately every 8–10 minutes during much of the day, with more frequent services later to support Goose Fair visitors.
The important change comes tomorrow:
Friday 2 October – no tram service
Saturday 3 October – no tram service
Normal tram services are scheduled to return on Sunday 4 October.
Rail
No major fresh incident affecting Nottinghamshire’s rail network has been identified in the early check.
The principal planned alteration comes late tonight.
East Midlands Railway has engineering alterations affecting the 23:35 London St Pancras to Nottingham, with tonight the final night of the current Monday-to-Thursday programme.
Passengers travelling later today should check their individual journey before setting out.
Other bus disruption
The Ryehill Street stop towards Trent Bridge is currently closed for roadworks, affecting Navy, Green and Pathfinder 90 services. Passengers are being directed to the next stop at Victoria Embankment.
Navy 4 is also currently unable to serve its Cornerhouse stop on Burton Street, with NTU City Campus being used as the alternative.
South Notts 1 continues to experience delays, described by NCT as severe at peak times, because of roadworks in Loughborough.
Looking ahead – A52 Clifton Bridge
A significant new National Highways programme begins next week around A52 Clifton Bridge.
Overnight lighting works are scheduled between 20:00 and 06:00 from Monday 5 to Tuesday 13 October.
The first phase, from 5 to 7 October, includes closure of the A453 northbound to A52 westbound link, including the Silverdale entry slip, together with restrictions around Queens Drive and Silverdale.
The A52 Queens Drive Flyover is then scheduled to close overnight on Thursday 8 October, with further closures following through 13 October.
