Nottingham’s Tenpin gets £500,000 refurbishment

Nottingham’s popular indoor bowling venue has had a £500k refit, with a whole host of new attractions including escape rooms and karaoke rooms, an upgraded laser tag experience and a new cocktail machine.

Tenpin, situated next to Showcase cinema on Clifton Boulevard, has been a mainstay of Nottingham’s leisure scene since it first opened its doors in 1996 as the home of bowling fun in the city for families, young professionals and students and the setting for Christmas and birthday parties for all ages.

The venue has had a major investment in its facilities this year, during what has been a very uncertain time for the leisure and hospitality sector – and as a result, will be creating 17 new jobs as part of its relaunch in Nottingham.

The bowling chain, which operates 46 venues up and down the UK, also plans to refurbish its Bristol, Plymouth and Kingston centres over the coming months.

In Nottingham, the 26 bowling lanes have been updated with new lane end boards, seating, lighting and scoring systems.

There are also two brand new karaoke rooms and four Houdini escape rooms – real-life, themed escape room games that require players to work together to find clues, solve hidden puzzles and decipher codes to escape a locked themed room before time runs out.

The Sector 7 laser tag arenas experience has also had an exciting refit, with a new briefing room area.

General Manager at Tenpin Nottingham, Donna Walsh said: “Tenpin Nottingham has totally transformed into a venue that provides a full Tenpin experience. Being a venue with lots of activities to enjoy, it’s a destination for everyone. We think the results are great and we hope that our customers think so too.

“We’re really pleased to finally be able to reveal the new Tenpin Nottingham venue. We’ve been working hard over the last few weeks to bring together all the elements of Tenpin. The addition of the karaoke rooms and Houdini’s escape rooms mean there’s an element of fun for everyone!”

“Tenpin Nottingham is a site with so much potential but needed modernisation. We’re confident the transformation will make Tenpin one of Nottingham’s go-to entertainment centres for friends and families to enjoy a memorable day or night out together.’’

One additional assistant manager has been recruited, boosting the management team by 25% and the business is actively recruiting an additional 16 team members as part of the relaunch.

Customers of all ages leave glowing reviews of the Tenpin Nottingham on Google, particularly in light of the changes implemented following the pandemic to ensure all visitors feel safe while experiencing the various attractions.

Marc Holliday wrote: “Great time at Tenpin Nottingham! All restrictions adhered to, and areas were cleaned very regularly. Staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the guy on reception!”

The venue has introduced a food and drink ordering app, built-in perspex screens between lanes and sanitisation stations throughout.

Donna added: “We have a raft of excellent deals on at the moment to entice new customers through our doors – as well as welcoming back our regulars.

“We offer a student deal of half price bowling from Sunday at 6pm – Friday at 5pm, Tenpin Tuesdays which is 50% off our standard bowling tariff, £10 Thursdays and Friday Frenzy which is 25% off our standard bowling tariff.

“We can’t wait to welcome our special guests to our relaunch party on November 3rd and look forward to hearing our customers’ feedback and seeing the smiles on our visitors’ faces when they’ve experienced our amazing new attractions!”
