Plans have been submitted for 420 homes next to a railyard in a part of Nottinghamshire.
The homes could be built on fields next to the Toton Sidings rail yard, just off Stapleford Lane, in Broxtowe.
They would form part of a larger masterplan for Toton, Chilwell, and Chetwynd, where up to 4,500 homes are expected to be built by 2040.
Bloor Homes, the developer, says the 420 homes would be built on what it is calling the Toton West site.

“Nationally, we are facing a growing housing shortage as people are living longer and in smaller households,” the developer said.
“There are not enough homes being built to meet demand and, as a result, there is a need to boost the supply of new homes.”
The application has been split into two parts.
Full planning permission is being sought for an initial 69 homes, including 32 three-bed houses and 37 four-bed properties.
Only an outline application has been submitted for the remaining 351 homes, with further details – including sizes and designs – to come later.
Development on the land has been considered as early as 2014 under the council’s plan, before being formally allocated as a proposed development site in October 2019.
It was known in the plans as “land in the vicinity of the HS2 Station at Toton (Strategic Location for Growth)” before the government scrapped the high-speed rail plans in favour of a station at East Midlands Parkway.
The entire East Midlands leg of the line was then later scrapped
Other sites in the vicinity include Toton East, where Bloor Homes and Peveril Homes are preparing a full planning application for 260 houses and open space to sit next to the Toton tram stop and park and ride.
Then, just above this site, is Toton North, where Bloor Homes hopes to build a further 880 homes, a country park, a local centre, and school provision.
The developer has already submitted an outline planning application to Broxtowe Borough Council for the provision of a link road from the A52 south towards Stapleford Lane.
