Police arrest suspect after two sexual assaults in Lenton

Police investigating reports of two sexual assaults by a man on a bicycle have arrested a suspect.

Officers released a public appeal after two women reported assaults in the Lenton area.

The first happened in Church Street, Old Lenton, at around 10.30 pm on Sunday 28 May.

The second occurred near the underpass in Sherwin Road, Old Lenton, at around 11 pm on Monday 29 May.

Another woman was also approached on Church Street at around 11.10 pm on Sunday but was not assaulted.

A 25-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) evening on suspicion of two counts of sexual assault and remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Dan Holloway, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “These were upsetting incidents for the women involved and unsurprisingly caused significant concern in the local community.

“We have been working hard over the last week or so to investigate these incidents and I am pleased we have now identified a suspect.”
