Police find large tub of cannabis during St Ann’s car stop

Police have arrested a suspected drug dealer after discovering a large tub full of cannabis in a car.

Officers from the city knife crime team were on patrol in Ashley Street, St Ann’s, Nottingham, at around 3.25 pm on Tuesday (3 October) when they spotted a parked vehicle which had previously been reported for suspicious activity.

When officers approached and spoke with the driver they could smell cannabis within the car.

A plastic tub full of individual bags of cannabis was found under the driver’s seat and smaller tins and tubs containing the Class B drug were discovered elsewhere inside the vehicle.

Officers also recovered cash, digital weighing scales, mobile phones and other equipment associated with drug dealing.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Police Constable Joe Riley, of the city knife crime team, said: “Proactive policing like this is an important part of our work in the knife crime team and it is always a good result when we can seize and destroy drugs and disrupt their illegal supply.

“Drugs continue to cause huge problems within communities and the supply of cannabis can often be linked to wider organised criminality.

“Our investigation into the incident remains ongoing and anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 23000614155, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
