Police officer spat at while responding to incident in Hucknall

A police officer has been spat at while responding to an incident.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called just before 11pm yesterday (30 September) to a report of a disturbance at a house in Albert Street in Hucknall.

An officer was spat at and a 23-year old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault of an emergency worker.

Inspector Sue Wain said: “Most members of the public appreciate the hard work and dedication of selfless emergency workers.

“Unfortunately a small number of people do not appreciate that hard work and even go out of their way to try to harm or cause distress to police officers and other frontline workers. This is particularly malicious behaviour during a pandemic, when we are all concerned about the spread of Coronavirus.

“We absolutely do not tolerate this and we will always do everything within our power to hold people responsible for their actions.”
