Ruby the support dog retires from QMC after seven years

Ruby has been helping people at the Nottingham hospital along with her pal Bertie.

Ruby’s owner Dale Buckland said:

‘I remember helping in the CPR teachathon, which was in the Market Square. Helping with the Covid-19 vaccinations for the five- to eleven-year-olds.

‘And it is quite emotional because, although I get some of the praise, I should get none of the praise, because it’s Ruby and now Bertie who do all the work.

‘I’m just a chauffeur.

Dale set up pooches, which stands for Pets Offering Ongoing Care Help and Extra Support in 2012.

Ruby’s job, alongside her pal Bertie, has been to provide comfort and support to patients like John.
