Two men arrested by police investigating maternity failings in Nottingham have been released on bail.
Nottinghamshire Police said the men, aged 55 and 59, were arrested on Monday in connection with operating practices within the mortuary service provided by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The trust runs mortuary services at both Queen’s Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital under a licence issued by the Human Tissue Authority.
On Tuesday, the force confirmed both men had been bailed with strict conditions.
The arrests form part of Operation Perth, Nottinghamshire Police’s investigation into deaths and serious injuries linked to maternity care at NUH.
The police investigation began in 2023 after serious concerns were raised over maternity care at the trust, where hundreds of babies were found to have died or been injured following failings.
Operation Perth has been running alongside the independent maternity review led by senior midwife Donna Ockenden.
