Rushcliffe police make arrests after motorbike thefts and nuisance bike reports

Neighbourhood police in Rushcliffe are continuing to take action on motorbike theft and antisocial behaviour following a series of important arrests.

Officers in the Rushcliffe South neighbourhood team are aware of issues in Bingham and are engaging with concerned residents.

A number of arrests have taken place in recent weeks, including four suspects detained in April after a bike was stolen in Nottingham and pursued to Bingham.

Four males, aged 16, 17, 17 and 20, were arrested after being found hiding in bushes in the Gardeners Close area on 13 April.

An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy from the Rushcliffe area were also arrested on Saturday (9 May) following the theft of a motorcycle in Clifton.

The 18-year-old went on to be charged with theft of a motor vehicle and appeared at Nottinghamshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday, where he was remanded in custody.

Inspector Tim Cuthbert, local area commander for Rushcliffe, said: “Our message to residents is to always report incidents of ASB involving nuisance bikes.

“Don’t suffer in silence or assume someone else will report it. We can only take appropriate action when we are informed of incidents.

“I’d like to thank those people who have already provided information, and we have arrested a number of individuals recently.

“We believe a small number of offenders are responsible for these incidents, including motorcycle theft, robbery and antisocial behaviour connected with nuisance bikes.

“Arrests and charges help to disrupt this sort of activity, and we won’t hesitate to take proactive steps when people’s lives are being impacted by antisocial behaviour.”
