Rushcliffe neighbourhood policing inspector Tim Cuthbert updates the community for April 2026.
Tim writes:
‘The last six weeks or so have seen a rise in calls for service from the police across the whole of Nottinghamshire. Rushcliffe is no exception to this, and whilst we strive to always meet our anticipated times of arrival to incidents wherever we can, at peak times of demand this understandably becomes harder.
‘As a force, we’re working to manage this demand; however, it is not lost on me as a Neighbourhoods Inspector that any delay in police attendance at incidents is certainly not ideal.
‘Please rest assured we’re doing all we can to deliver the best service we can, and my officers in the Neighbourhoods team have certainly been involved in those efforts too. Thank you for your patience if you have been impacted by this in recent weeks.’
‘You may be aware of some significant investigations which have been undertaken in Rushcliffe recently. A male was charged with attempted murder following a serious incident at an address in East Leake on 31 March.

‘Where serious incidents such as this occur, we often have to maintain a crime scene for several days to ensure every investigative lead is explored, and I’d like to pass on my thanks to the enquiry team for the exceptionally long hours and hard work they’ve put into the investigation so far. I appreciate the concern that an incident of this nature can cause to the local community; however, I’d like to reassure people that this was an isolated incident and no risk is posed to the wider public.

‘Another matter which was reported in March was a caretaker from a Rushcliffe school who has been jailed for nine months for voyeurism offences. The offender was also given a ten-year sexual harm prevention order.
‘The investigation was managed by PC Holden from the West Bridgford Neighbourhoods team, so a big thanks to him for some outstanding police work in securing the conviction, and a special mention to those pupils who came forward to give their accounts of what had occurred. Without their bravery, the result would not have been possible.
‘I’m very happy to see the passing of the TikTok ‘Red vs Blue’ fad that emerged online in the spring. Thankfully, very little issue has arisen in Rushcliffe from the social media posts which spread around schools locally and indeed nationally.
‘I’d also like to thank the local schools which supported police messages and even went out into the community to prevent any issues arising.
‘I was pleased to welcome the Police and Crime Commissioner, Gary Godden, along with the Temporary Chief Constable, Steve Cooper, to Bingham today (8 April) to discuss issues impacting the local community here in Rushcliffe.
‘We discussed police visibility, resourcing challenges, rural crime, as well as crime trends in rural towns whilst meeting members of the public in local business premises in the town centre.
‘You may recall from previous updates the introduction of a ‘red route’ around the area of the Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station. Following a quick analysis of the impact of this measure, which was put in place last year following meetings with the police, Uniper, Rushcliffe Borough Council and Nottinghamshire County Council, we can report that the impact has been superb, as we have achieved an 80% reduction in calls relating to car cruising in the area following the implementation of the ‘red route’.’

‘My preference to combat road safety issues will always be to support infrastructure improvements and technical or automated measures wherever possible as a way to make our roads a safer place to be, as this is the most efficient and impactful means of implementing change in road behaviour, with this initiative, the first in the county area, being testament to that.’
‘April has seen a review of the local priorities for Neighbourhood Policing in Rushcliffe. Given that the demands on our resources are high in similar areas, and following discussions with partners in our monthly problem-solving meetings, I’ll retain the below three priorities for the next quarter:
ASB in town centre locations
Theft of bikes and motorbikes
Shop theft
