A 20-year-old man has been charged after a string of incidents were reported in Nottingham.
Officers were called to a skate park off Canal Street on Saturday (24 May) following a report that a man had robbed another male of his mobile phone.
It is alleged the victim was intentionally strangled by the same offender, with threats made against a second victim. A third person was also reportedly strangled.
Officers attended and arrested a suspect at the scene.
Further incidents were reported to have taken place at the same location two days earlier (Thursday 22 May). It is alleged an offender tried to rob two people of their mobile phones and that he succeeded in one of the attempts.
Luke Sugden, of Curzon Gardens, St Ann’s, has been charged with two counts of robbery, attempted robbery, two counts of intentional strangulation and harassment.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday (26 May) and was remanded into custody ahead of his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday 23 June.
Detectives are still seeking to trace one of the strangulation victims and are appealing for him to come forward so they can check on his welfare.
Detective Sergeant Paul Crofts, of the City CID team, said:
“Incidents of this nature can be an unnerving experience for any victim.
“That is why we have teams of detectives investigating these incidents and supporting victims.
“I’m pleased a suspect has been identified for these incidents and placed before the courts.”
