More than 30 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine have been taken off the streets of Nottingham after police caught a suspected drug deal in action.
Officers were carrying out a routine patrol at around 2.30 pm on Tuesday 31 October in Radford.
Officers sighted a suspect acting suspiciously on his pushbike and detained him for a stop and search.
They found a bundle of white and dark powder believed to be heroin and crack cocaine in his jacket pocket, around £100 in cash and a burner phone.
More work is now being carried out to determine the scale of this operation.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
PC Joe Riley, of Nottinghamshire Police’s City Knife Crime Team, said:
“This seizure and arrest provided a great example of exactly why we carry out these types of proactive patrols each day.
“By being out on the roads, we’re able to spot suspicious behaviour with our own eyes and act upon it, as well as follow up intelligence relating to other criminality as it happens too.
“Everything we do is focused on stopping those who could potentially be knife carriers, and that often includes people involved in drug activity, which is why we target these suspects too.
“On this occasion, we were able to take large quantities of Class A drugs off the streets that we suspect were intended to be sold on, so this was a good result.”
