A suspected drug driver who twice failed to stop for police was arrested and a bag of cocaine was recovered after a brief pursuit.
Officers initially spotted a Mini Cooper, which had no lights on, being driven in the Chilwell area around 9pm on Wednesday (25 September).
The officers activated their blue lights and sirens and indicated for the driver to stop but they failed to do so.
The car was later stopped in Clifton Boulevard but when the driver was asked to move her vehicle to a safer location she drove off.
Officers again activated their blue lights and sirens but the driver failed to stop, drove through red lights, and exceeded speed limits during a brief pursuit.
The Mini Cooper came to a stop in Beeston after it went into a dead-end.
The driver, a 25-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and dangerous driving.
After searching her, officers found a bag of cocaine. She was subjected to a drugs wipe, which returned a positive reading for cocaine, and she was further arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs and possession of a Class A drug.
Inspector Lisa Schooling, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The manner of driving witnessed was erratic and dangerous so I’m pleased we managed to bring this incident to a safe conclusion.
“This arrest is another example which showcases the importance of our officers being out on the roads, keeping people safe, and cracking down on criminality.
“Anything we can do as a force to take drugs off our streets is undoubtedly a positive thing, so the seizure of the cocaine following our stop also represented a good result.”
