UK Covid update 4 September.

There were 1,155,929 tests reported on 2 September 2021. This shows an increase of 11.8%compared to the previous 7 days.

Between 27 August 2021 and 2 September 2021, there have been 6,094,241 tests.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

37,578 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 4 September 2021.

Between 29 August 2021 and 4 September 2021, 245,354 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 2.4% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.

48,205,585 people had been given a first dose by the end of 3 September 2021.

43,251,037 people had been given a second dose by the end of 3 September 2021.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

985 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 31 August 2021.

Between 25 August 2021 and 31 August 2021, 6,566 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 3.7% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 7,541 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 2 September 2021.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 1,038 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 2 September 2021.

Deaths

There were 120 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 4 September 2021.

Between 29 August 2021 and 4 September 2021, there have been 785 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows no change compared to the previous 7 days.
