The M1 in Leicestershire is closed in both directions between J20 (Lutterworth) and J21 (Leicester) due to a serious three-vehicle collision involving a van and two lorries.

Highways England said:
‘Leicestershire Police, Air Ambulance, Fire & Rescue and Highways England Traffic Officers are on scene.
‘In addition one of the vehicles was carrying gas canisters containing oxyacetalene so Fire & Rescue are making these safe.
‘Nothbound motorists are being diverted and should follow the hollow square symbol. Exit at J20 and travel west on the A4303 to the A5 Magna Park. At the roundabout take the 4th exit and travel north on the A5 to the M69. Take the 5th exit and travel north on the M69 tio re-join the M1 at J21.’
‘Southbound follow the same route in reverse.’
‘Northbound has been closed between J20 and J21 due to a serious incident. Diversions are in place. Please avoid this route and plan ahead if you have to travel.’
