Updates: A1 closed both ways A52 to Barrowby very serious collision

The A1 in Lincolnshire is closed in both directions between the A607 at Grantham and the A52 near Barrowby due to a serious collision involving a van and a lorry.

All emergency services including Lincolnshire Police are in attendance, alongside Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. National Highways Traffic Officers and contractors will also be attending to assist with traffic management.

Due to the nature of the incident, the road is likely to be closed for some time to allow for Police collision investigation works to take place.

Diversion Routes

Northbound diverted traffic is advised to follow the solid square diversion symbol:

• Exit the A1 at B1174 Little Ponton, continue along the B1174 into Grantham to B1174/A52/A607 Bridge End Road/ South Parade junction (Gainsborough Corner), then turn right (east) onto the A52.
• Continue along the A52 to A52/B6403 roundabout.
• Turn left (east) and continue along the A52 until the A52/A15
  Roundabout, then turn left (north) onto the A15 and travel along the A15 through Osbournby village.
• Continue straight over the A15/A153 Quarrington Roundabout to the A17/A15 Holdingham Roundabout, and then turn left (west) onto the A17.
• Continue for 7.4 miles until the A17/C208 Coddington Roundabout, go straight over and continue along A17 to A1/A17/A46 roundabout, then go straight over onto A46 to A46/A1 Brownhills Roundabout.
• Turn right (north) at Brownhills taking the third entry off onto the A1 northbound slip road to rejoin the A1

Southbound diverted traffic is advised to follow the hollow square diversion route:

• • Exit the A1 at the A52 junction for Barrowby Junction and turn left onto the A52 westbound towards Nottingham.
  • Continue along the A52 west for approximately 13 miles to Saxondale Roundabout with the B692 at Bingham.
  • Take the first exit towards the Bingham Interchange with the A46, followed by the second exit at the Bingham Interchange to join the A46 southbound towards Leicester.
  • Remain on the A46 southbound for approximately 6 miles and exit at the junction with the A606 for Melton Mowbray.
  • At the roundabout take the second exit onto the A606 eastbound towards Melton Mowbray and continue for approximately 9 miles, passing through Upper Broughton and Ab Kettleby, to the traffic light controlled junction with the A60 and A6006 at Melton Mowbray.
  • Turn left onto the A607/Norman Way and continue to the traffic light controlled junction with the B676 Saxby Road again turning left at the junction to continue on the A607 towards Grantham.
  • Continue along the A607 for approximately 13 miles, passing through Waltham on the Wolds and Harlaxton, to reach the Harlaxton Road Interchange where traffic can re-join the A1 southbound.
