Thousands of pounds worth of cannabis plants were found stuffed in the back of a van by police.
Road Crime team officers were out in Broxtowe when they saw a vehicle that aroused their suspicions.
After trailing the van for a short while, they approached it when it came to a natural stop in Melford Road.
Spotting the officers walking towards him, the driver suddenly jumped out before trying and failing to run away.
This only enhanced the policing team’s suspicions further, with a decision then made to search the back of the van.
These suspicions were validated when police looked inside and found it packed to the brim with black bin bags full of cannabis.
The 64 plants – which had a minimum estimated street value of over £60,000 – were seized, just after 10.15pm on Tuesday (16 September).
The van driver – a 26-year-old man – was also arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs.
Detective Inspector Jamie Moore, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This proved itself to be a really good spot by our Road Crime team.
“Thanks to the actions of these officers, we were ultimately able to seize thousands of pounds worth of cannabis plants and arrest a suspect.
“No drug activity of any kind will ever be tolerated by this police force, and our teams will always look to take action should we have any suspicions relating to this.”
