A winter weather system is set to impact the UK this Saturday, bringing a mix of rain and snow to parts of the county, according to the latest Met Office weather warning.
Outbreaks of rain will spread northeast, with northern England and Scotland expected to see a spell of snow before conditions turn milder.
Snowfall is likely to start at lower levels before becoming largely restricted to higher ground as the day progresses.
Areas like the Vale of York may experience brief periods of snow accumulation, potentially seeing between 5 and 10 centimeters before it transitions to rain. In elevated areas, snowfall totals could reach between 10 and 20 centimeters above 150 meters, with as much as 20 to 40 centimeters possible above 300 meters.
As the weather front moves through, strengthening winds are expected to create challenging driving conditions, especially on higher routes.
There is also the risk of interruptions to power supplies.
Additionally, a rapid thaw of lying snow, combined with milder air and heavy rainfall of up to 20 to 40 millimeters in some upland areas on Saturday night, could lead to a heightened risk of localized flooding later in the weekend.
