The Met Office has upgraded the weather warning for the Nottinghamshire region.
Warning period between 2 pm and 10 pm on Tuesday 25 August 2020.
The warning states:
‘A spell of very strong winds will develop across much of Wales and a large swathe of central England during Tuesday before easing from the west during Tuesday evening.
‘Gusts are likely to widely reach 50-55 mph inland with some sites seeing 60-65 mph.
‘Exposed coastal locations in the west and some higher ground inland may see gusts to 70 mph at times.’
Today:
A wet and windy start for most and then a very windy day, especially the southern half of the UK. Drier and brighter weather developing over southern and eastern England this afternoon but further north many staying wet all day.
Tonight:
Further spells of rain affecting much the UK this evening and overnight. Drier across southern UK and the far north of Scotland. Staying windy, especially during the evening.
Wednesday:
Early cloud and rain clearing slowly eastwards, finally clearing eastern England during the afternoon. Sunny spells following and gradually becoming less windy from the west.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Showery rain spreads east across most areas Thursday, becoming focused across central and southern areas Friday; risk of thunder. Drier weather across the west developing more widely by Saturday.
