West Bridgford: Shoplifter charged with 14 offences

A man has been arrested, charged and remanded with 14 separate counts of shop theft following a coordinated investigation by officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Prisoner Handling Team.

The offences, which occurred over a three-week period, targeted multiple retail premises across the West Bridgford and Clifton area.

The suspect, known to the police as a repeat offender with a history of addiction, was identified through CCTV analysis, witness reports and partnership intelligence from local businesses.

Items stolen ranged from alcohol and food to cleaning products.

The cumulative loss to retailers exceeded £2,000.

Sergeant Sands from West Bridgford’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said,

“This arrest reflects the persistent impact of repeat offending on local retailers and communities.”

“While we recognise the complex challenges linked to addiction, we remain committed to protecting businesses in ensuring accountability we are working closely with support services to ensure that enforcement is paired with opportunities for rehabilitation.”

“Officers continue to liaise with local partners to assess safeguarding concerns and explore diversionary pathways where appropriate.”
