Central Avenue in West Bridgford will host a Platinum Jubilee Street Party on Sunday 5 June to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 70 years on the throne!

Update! Despite the weather forecast, West Bridgford Street Party from 11am to 4pm on Sunday on Central Avenue continues!
Local food and drink venues will still offer tasty Jubilee joy and features and craft making will be under cover wherever possible!
In line with the national The Big Jubilee Lunch, from 11am to 4pm picnic benches will line the high street which will be closed to traffic, inviting families, groups and individuals to bring their own picnic.
They can also visit great local cafés and restaurants for food and drink or use the event’s food stalls, barbecue or bar.
An entertainment programme will then give the crowds plenty to sing-a-long to and enjoy on the street, adjacent Croquet Lawn or mini stage, including:
- DJ
- Boston Jive Dancers
- The Tuneless Choir
- Tailcoat drummers
- Comedy waiters
- London Guards
- Juicy Titbits -The Gossips! 1950s housewives’ humour
- Punch and Judy
- Comedy maypole
- Morris dancers
- Interactive crafts such as crown and flag making
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Communities and Climate Change Cllr Abby Brennan said: “The event promises to be a wonderful chance to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years as our sovereign and the incredible way she has led us over such a long period in our history.
“Come on down to join the party on 5 June in one of our great town centres and enjoy food and drink from local businesses or stallholders and an array of entertainment that will reflect some of the memorable moments of the last 70 years and royal heritage!
“We can’t wait for this event to join the street parties that will take place across the Borough creating an atmosphere to celebrate Her Majesty and the best of British!”
