Police recovered a moped stolen during a robbery before arresting a suspect soon afterwards.
Officers originally attended the West Bridgford area after hearing a woman had just been robbed.
The victim was standing outside a shop in Boundary Road when she was suddenly punched and thrown to the floor.
She was left with facial injuries as a result, while her moped was taken and driven away too, around 3.50pm on Sunday (14 June).
A lengthy pursuit then took place through Mapperley Park and Daybrook, after the stolen moped was spotted by the Armed Policing team.
During that time, the bike failed to stop for police and was seen to be driven in an erratic fashion, before officers eventually lost sight of it.
The moped was found abandoned in the Arnold area soon afterwards though, before firearms officers also spotted and detained a suspect in West Street.
Police duly arrested the 19-year-old man on suspicion of robbery, dangerous driving and failing to stop.
Detective Inspector James Oakton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was an incredibly distressing experience for the victim, who was left shaken up by what happened.
“As this incident showed, robbery is a really nasty offence that can cause considerable harm, whether that’s from a physical, emotional or financial standpoint.
“Thankfully, on this occasion, we were able to recover and return the victim’s stolen property, while making an arrest in the process.
“That was thanks to some great police work from our Operational Support officers, who managed to track the moped down, having already been involved in a lengthy pursuit beforehand.”
