Community rallies to support Nottingham grocery shop destroyed in suspected arson attack

A fundraiser has been launched after a much-loved local business was destroyed by fire, leaving its owners facing the heartbreaking task of rebuilding after years of hard work and dedication.

Ranya grocery shop on The Wells Road, St Ann’s Nottingham, was destroyed by a fire last week in a suspected arson, leaving residents who relied on the store saddened by the incident.

The business has served and supported the local community for many years and has become much more than just a shop. For many people, it was a familiar place where friendships were formed, memories were made and the community came together.

The fundraiser aims to help them rebuild, recover and, it is hoped, reopen their doors in the future.

Those behind the appeal are asking anyone who can help to consider making a donation, no matter how small. Every contribution will make a difference and show the owners that they are not facing this challenge alone.

Anyone unable to donate is being encouraged to share the fundraiser so it can reach as many people as possible.

The appeal says: “Let’s come together as a community and help restore something that means so much to so many.”

“Behind every small business are families, livelihoods, dreams and years of commitment. The fire has caused devastating damage, and the owners now face an incredibly difficult period as they try to recover from what has happened.”

Organisers have thanked everyone for their kindness, generosity and support.
