Woman threatened and robbed with weapons in her own home

Detectives have charged a man with robbery after a woman was threatened with weapons inside her own home.
Officers were called to Poplar Avenue, Kirkby in Ashfield, in the early hours of 21 August.

 

It was reported three men had entered the property, taken knives and meat cleavers from the kitchen and threatened the woman while demanding money.

A handbag was stolen during the incident, which happened at around 12.40am.

Following inquiries, Kieran Hodgkinson, of no fixed address, has been charged with robbery and possessing a bladed article. The 33-year-old has also been charged with criminal damage, breaching a restraining order and threatening to damage property following separate incidents in Wollaton Road, Kirkby in Ashfield, between 8-12 August.

Hodgkinson appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (25 August) and was remanded into custody ahead of his next court appearance.

An investigation to establish the identity of the two other suspects involved in the 21 August incident – including forensic inquiries – remains ongoing.

Detective Constable David Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We take reports of this nature very seriously and a man has now been charged in relation to several matters.

“Our inquiries continue and I would ask for anyone who has any information on what happened to come forward.”
