Neighbourhood police officers found almost 180 cannabis plants growing inside a West Bridgford home when they executed a warrant.
Officers carried out the raid at a semi-detached property in Dale Close, West Bridgford, at around 7am on Thursday (19 December).
The Rushcliffe North neighbourhood policing team discovered that the three upstairs bedrooms and loft of the property had been turned into a substantial growing area containing 177 plants.
Officers also found that the electrical supply to the home had been bypassed.
Sergeant Che Sands, of the Rushcliffe North neighbourhood policing team, said:
“This was a sophisticated grow which would have made the criminals behind it a considerable amount of money.
“Thankfully, we were able to act on intelligence provided to execute this warrant, seize the plants, and put the grow out of use.
“Grows on this scale can bring problems to the whole neighbourhood as they act like a magnet for other criminality.
“The dangerous wiring used to power the grow was also creating a potential fire hazard for anyone living nearby.
“All of the equipment used in this illegal enterprise has now been dismantled.
“Our investigation into whoever is behind the grow is ongoing, and I’d urge anyone with information to get in touch.”
Anyone who can assist should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 69 of 19 December 2024, or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
