A man has died after head-on collision on A631 near Beckingham village

A man has died in a car crash near the village of Beckingham in Bassetlaw.

Officers were called to the A631, near the roundabout junction with the A161, at 7 pm on Saturday 13 June following reports of a head-on crash involving a Skoda and a BMW.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, a 25-year-old man who was driving the Skoda was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Both passengers in the BMW were taken to hospital with minor injuries, and the road closures that were in place have since been lifted.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened, and officers are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Charlotte Henson, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with this man’s family and friends as we continue to investigate the circumstances of this crash.

“As part of our enquiries, we are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to please come forward.

“We’d like to hear from anyone with dashcam footage or who saw the vehicles involved in the moments before the crash.”
