Firefighters remain at the University of Nottingham after a blaze broke out on the campus early this morning.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the university site off University Boulevard at 5.03am today, Saturday 29 August.
At the height of the incident, eight fire engines were in attendance alongside an aerial ladder platform and a specialist rescue unit.
Crews from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service also assisted with the operation.
The fire service said it was scaling down its response but expected firefighters to remain at the scene for at least the rest of the morning.
The incident is away from the main roads and has been contained within the university site. No wider disruption is currently expected.
People have been asked to stay away from the scene while crews continue their work. The fire service has also warned people not to fly drones nearby because they could pose a risk to firefighting operations.
No details have yet been released about which building is involved, the extent of the damage or whether anyone has been injured.
