A West Bridgford councillor has launched a petition calling for increased parking enforcement on Wilford Lane and surrounding streets, citing ongoing concerns from residents about road safety and accessibility.
Cllr Hari Om ( County Councillor for Nottinghamshire County Council (West Bridgford West Division) and Borough Councillor for Rushcliffe Borough Council (Compton Acres) said he has received repeated reports of vehicles parking on double yellow lines, blocking pavements and reducing visibility for drivers and pedestrians.
Residents have also raised concerns about the impact on people with pushchairs, wheelchair users and those with limited mobility, who can be forced into the road when footpaths are obstructed.
The petition calls on Nottinghamshire County Council to provide additional funding for Parking Enforcement Officers, with the aim of ensuring that existing parking restrictions are more consistently enforced.
Cllr Om said the issue was not about penalising motorists but about improving safety and fairness for all road users. They added that while reports are regularly made, enforcement is often not present when problems occur.
Wilford Lane is a busy route connecting residential areas with schools, local amenities and commuter routes into Nottingham, and concerns about inconsiderate parking have been raised periodically by residents in recent years.

The petition is now open for signatures, with the councillor encouraging residents to support the campaign in order to strengthen the case for increased enforcement measures.
