Drugs and knuckleduster seized after police cars rammed by vehicle

Class A drugs and a knuckleduster were found onboard a vehicle that repeatedly rammed police cars.
Officers first came across the car as they drove through Basford, with the vehicle showing as being on cloned plates.

After boxing the car in, police got out in Wilton Street to speak to the driver around 12.55pm on Tuesday (1 October).

One of the vehicle’s occupants got out at that point and tried unsuccessfully to run away, with the driver staying in the car.

The vehicle was then reversed into two police cars – narrowly missing an officer – before mounting the kerb and crashing into a wall.

A short foot pursuit then took place when the driver got out, although they didn’t get far before they were detained.

Police conducted a search of the vehicle at that point, which resulted in quantities of suspected heroin being discovered.

Both a knuckleduster and cash were also recovered from the car.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs, and failing to stop.

The suspect was additionally arrested for criminal damage and driving without a valid licence or insurance.

A second 30-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs, possessing an offensive weapon, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Inspector Kerry Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The standard of driving demonstrated in this incident was completely unacceptable and put people in danger, including our officers.

“As well as eventually bringing the vehicle to a safe stop, our teams were able to recover Class A drugs and an offensive weapon.

“These are clearly also very serious offences, so we’re pleased to have been able to seize these items and arrest two suspects.”
