Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said on Thursday 15 May:
‘The crew from Bingham have just returned from a fire in the open in some woodland area in Bingham.

‘Setting fires outdoors might seem like a prank, but it’s a crime, and it puts lives at risk.

‘Every year Firefighters from Bingham Fire Station attend fires started deliberately in parks, grassland and open spaces.

• take up vital emergency resources
• risk injury to the public and firefighters
• damage local wildlife and destroy green spaces.
