A series of roadworks, closures and traffic management measures are set to affect routes across Nottingham over the coming weeks, with disruption expected on a number of key roads throughout April and beyond.
Longer-running works are already in place in several locations. Parking restrictions are currently in force on Woodside Road between Derby Road and University Boulevard as part of National Highways works, due to continue until the end of May. Meanwhile, highways works involving road closures and parking bay suspensions remain ongoing in Thane Road, Abbeyfield Road, Redfield Road and Bull Close Road until early May.
Severn Trent works have led to the closure of Lindfield Road between Alwyn Road and Shipley Road, which is expected to remain shut until August. Further utility works are also continuing in Curzon Street, where three-way temporary traffic lights are in place between Union Road and St Ann’s Well Road until mid-April.
Several more immediate disruptions are scheduled for the week ahead. An emergency road closure remains in place on Woodborough Road between Mission Street and Querneby Avenue until 12 April, while Sherwood Rise is closed between Gregory Boulevard and First Avenue from 5 to 12 April for Severn Trent works.
Short-term closures and restrictions will also affect a number of other routes. Lauriston Drive will be closed at its dead end on 6 and 7 April to allow Network Rail inspection works. Temporary signals will be in place at Flaxton Way and Ridgeway on 7 and 8 April, while Electric Avenue will see two-way lights from 7 to 9 April for telecoms works.
Rail-related works will result in road closures on St Albans Road and Carey Road around the level crossing between 7 and 10 April. At the same time, lane closures will be in place along Maid Marian Way and on London Road between Trent Bridge and the Iremonger Road junction, potentially affecting traffic through the city.
Additional temporary traffic management is planned across the network, including two-way lights on Church Street between 8 and 10 April, and closures on Spring Road alongside temporary signals on Highbury Road between 12 and 14 April.
Further disruption is expected from mid-April, with lane closures on Ilkeston Road for both Cadent Gas and Virgin Media works between 13 and 15 April. Wilford Grove will also be closed south of Felton Road between 13 and 17 April, while Kimbolton Avenue will see both closures and parking suspensions over the same period.
Elsewhere, Wollaton Road will be subject to lane closures on 14 and 15 April, and multi-way temporary lights will be installed at the junction of Bulwell Lane and Rosegarth Walk from 15 to 24 April. Bulwell bus station will be partially closed on 16 April to allow for the installation of a new toilet block.
Heathcote Street will be closed between 16 and 18 April, while Mansfield Road at Winchester Street will be under three-way lights on 19 April for road marking works. Four-way lights will also be in place at the junction of St Ann’s Way and Woodborough Road between 19 and 20 April.
Later in the month, further works will bring lane closures, temporary signals and road closures across a number of routes, including Longwall Avenue, Denman Street West, Wilford Lane and University Boulevard between 20 and 24 April. High Cross Street will be closed on 23 April, while Western Boulevard and Middleton Boulevard will see lane closures between 23 and 27 April.
Haydn Road will be subject to two-way lights over the weekend of 25 and 26 April, and longer-running gas works will introduce temporary signals along Green Lane between Farnborough Road and Clifton Lane from 27 April to 18 May. Poulton Drive is also scheduled for closure between 30 April and 1 May.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for journeys, particularly on key arterial routes and around city centre corridors, where multiple schemes may overlap.
