Man charged after occupants disturb burglary as they return home

A man has been charged with burglary following an investigation into a break-in at a flat.

Officers received a report of a burglary in progress after the people who lived at the address returned and saw a flashlight coming from one of the windows.

Police attended an address on Waverly Street, the Arboretum, on Sunday (14 November) at around 6.45pm.

Jamie Law, of Raleigh Street, the Arboretum, was charged with burglary of a dwelling and appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (16 November).

The 28-year-old was remanded in custody and is next set to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 7 December.

Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We want the public to have faith that reports of burglary will be thoroughly investigated and we will relentlessly pursue lines of enquiry.

“A man has now been charged in connection with this burglary and our officers from one of the forces dedicated burglary teams are continuing to investigate this report as part of their investigation.”
