Man due in court after four police officers assaulted inside QMC

A man is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrate’s Court after four police officers were assaulted.

The officers were assaulted at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham on Wednesday night (12 January).

It is alleged they were assaulted by a man who had been arrested in Broxtowe earlier in the evening. Prior to taking him into custody, officers took him to hospital due to his level of intoxication and concern for his safety.

Inside the hospital, two female police officers and two male officers were assaulted.

A 41-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with assaulting four emergency workers. The suspect also faces a fifth assault charge relating to an incident at HMP Nottingham last year.

He was due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday afternoon (14 January).

Investigating officer PC Rebekah Jackson said: “Assaults on emergency workers are treated very seriously by Nottinghamshire Police and I can assure anyone who assaults our officers that we will put them in front of magistrates as soon as possible.”
