A man has been sent to prison and placed on the sex offenders’ register after admitting producing indecent images of children.
Colin Legg, of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent photos of children – including seven ‘Category A images including videos – the most severe classification of indecent images of children.
A total of 70 images were discovered following an investigation by Nottinghamshire Police and after officers seized four media devices from the 65-year-old’s home.
Legg, who was arrested on 24 November 2020, was subsequently charged and he was jailed for 15 months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Monday (25 April 2022).
He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years and made subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
Chief Inspector Joanna Elbourn, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Legg’s actions were deplorable. The viewing of indecent images is far from a victimless crime, as real children have been harmed in the making of the images and they are further exploited every time they are shared.
“Nottinghamshire Police takes these types of crimes very seriously and we will always do everything we can to protect vulnerable young people and ensure that individuals behind this type of activity are brought to justice.”
