Detective Inspector Melanie Crutchley, who is leading the investigation, said: “My team of specialist detectives have been working tirelessly on this case for the last week, so it’s pleasing to have made a significant step in this investigation by charging two suspects.

“Our main focus throughout this investigation has been to find the truth about what happened to Darren and to bring his loved ones some justice.

“As ever, our thoughts remain with his family and friends and we would urge for their privacy to continue to be respected during what must be an extraordinarily difficult time for them.”
