Gedling Borough Council announces the opening of a brand-new Bird Hide at Gedling Country Park.
This exciting addition to the park is set to become a haven for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts, offering a unique and peaceful way to observe the rich wildlife that call the park home.
The Bird Hide, located between the park’s two lower lagoons, is a specially designed shelter with windows that provide a perfect view of the surrounding landscape. For those who may not be familiar, a Bird Hide is a structure that allows visitors to observe birds and other wildlife without disturbing them, creating an immersive experience in nature. This facility is especially beneficial for serious bird watchers and nature photographers, offering them an ideal spot to capture rare and beautiful species.
Gedling Country Park, already a popular destination for local residents and visitors, is known for its stunning views, walking trails, play areas, and café. The addition of the Bird Hide enhances the park’s appeal, providing yet another reason to visit and enjoy the great outdoors.
Leader of Gedling Borough Council, John Clarke MBE said:
“We’re thrilled to add this Bird Hide to Gedling Country Park. It’s a fantastic facility that not only enriches the experience for bird watchers but also contributes to the park’s diverse range of attractions.
“Whether you’re an experienced birder or simply enjoy a quiet moment in nature, this hide offers something for everyone.”
The construction of the Bird Hide was made possible through section 106 payments from local housing developers, demonstrating the positive impact of local development on community amenities. The project, which cost £29,000, includes the Bird Hide itself, as well as benches and other facilities that enhance visitor comfort.
Gedling Borough Council is committed to ensuring that all visitors can enjoy the park’s facilities. The new Bird Hide has been designed with accessibility in mind, making it easy for people with disabilities to access and enjoy the space. The hide’s location and design ensure that everyone can participate in the peaceful pastime of bird watching.
