Building work has been completed on a new housing development of 70 homes at Sutton Bonington, marking the end of a three-year construction project on land off Park Lane.
Construction of the Lime Gardens development began in 2022 on a 17-acre site. The first homes were sold in 2023, with residents moving in during the same year. Developer William Davis Homes has now completed the final properties, bringing the project to its conclusion.
The scheme includes around four acres of open space, with paths through a biodiversity park, a village green with a boardwalk and pond, an equipped children’s play area and a community orchard. As part of the planning agreement, Section 106 contributions from the developer have included £5,110 towards extending allotment provision in the village and £27,000 to fund improvements to two bus stops on Park Lane.

Joshua Griffin, assistant site manager for William Davis Homes, said he had overseen the completion of the final homes and described the site as a “good” development, adding that the team was proud of the finished community.
Energy efficiency was a stated focus of the project. Homes at Lime Gardens were designed to achieve an A-rated energy efficiency standard, compared with a national average rating of D, and include solar panels and electric vehicle charging points. The developer estimates the development will achieve an annual reduction in carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to around 100 flights from London to New York.
The completion of Lime Gardens forms part of ongoing housing growth in villages across Rushcliffe and wider Nottinghamshire, where new residential developments are typically required through the planning system to include open space and financial contributions towards local infrastructure and services.
