Nottingham High School students are once again celebrating this week after achieving outstanding GCSE results.
This year’s cohort has excelled, 67.3% of grades were secured at the equivalent of Grades 8 and 9, the best results ever for the School at this level. 85% of Grades were at Grade 7 or above, a truly fantastic figure. 20 students each gained the equivalent of at least 10 Grades 8-9. 37% of all passes were at the highest possible grade 9.
Paul Spedding, Acting Head Teacher, said: “I am incredibly proud of this year group who have achieved some of the best results in the School’s History.

“The staff and students worked collaboratively throughout the past two years to ensure that all students achieved their own individual potential. Ultimately these results are a stepping stone into the next part of our students’ academic education, here with us in the Sixth Form at Nottingham High School.
“With such outstanding results, the students can now look forward to their A Level studies and in a couple of years some excellent university courses.”
Paul Spedding added: “These excellent results come on top of the outstanding A Level results from last week and further demonstrate the work of all in the High School Community as we support all our students, as staff, parents and carers.

“This cohort is also extremely talented in many other areas, excelling outside of the classroom, winning National Hockey titles, competing as international rowers, being high performing musicians and giving many volunteering hours of their time to numerous projects locally, nationally and in some cases worldwide; they are amazing young adults.
“Not all students have found the past two years straight forward; amongst these results are several individual success stories of students overcoming significant challenges and the support that they have had has enabled them to thrive and achieve so much, making their results even more impressive.”
