A 25-year-old mas been charged with multiple charges including possession of a bladed article and failing to stop and report a road traffic collision.
The charges relate to an incident on Bentinck Road in Radford on Wednesday 11 March 2020 at around 11am where a car has collided with another.
The driver drove off and officers detained the man.
The man lashed out and an officers tooth was chipped.
He also punched another officer, who suffered no injury.
A third officer was head-butted in the custody suite, meanwhile a fourth officer was spat at.
Police Sergeant Steven King said: “Thankfully none of the officers have suffered serious injuries. They are being supported and given welfare following the incident.
“Assaults on any emergency worker are completely and utterly unacceptable.
“Police officers are there to protect the public and while they will always run towards danger as part of their duty and service to keep people safe, they should not have to endure or experience any form of violence against them whilst just doing their job.”
Dean Kirby of Nottingham has been charged with:
– Possession of a bladed article
– Assault – actual bodily harm – to a Police Officer
– Common assault of an emergency worker
– Assault by beating of an emergency worker
– Assault by beating of an emergency worker
– Fail to stop and report at road traffic collision
– Drive otherwise than in accordance with a licence
– Use a motor vehicle without insurance
He will appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Thursday 12 March 2020.
