Nottingham tram service – NET is carrying out essential maintenance on Nottingham city centre’s tram network.
Parts of the track in the city centre are around 16 years old, and need replacing to ensure we can continue to operate a safe and reliable network, providing a comfortable journey for our customers.
Nottingham tram service – during track works
NET give details below of any disruption to travel:
We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, but our engineers will complete the work as quickly as they can.
We thank customers, local residents and businesses for their patience and understanding.
When?
Work starts on Saturday 20 June until Sunday 19 July. Full service will resume on Monday 20 July.
Where?
We’re replacing the tracks between Royal Centre and Old Market Square tram stops. It will still be possible to travel into the city centre by tram while the works are ongoing, alighting at Royal Centre from the north, and Nottingham Station from the south.

Please be aware:
- There will be no Nottingham tram service between Royal Centre and Nottingham Station
- Old Market Square and Lace Market tram stops will be closed

How has the coronavirus pandemic affected the works?
To enable our contractor to adhere to social distancing guidance, these works will take slightly longer than originally planned.
In addition, these guidelines will also affect the maximum number of people we can take on the replacement bus service, and we would encourage customers to walk the 15-20 minute journey across the city centre if they are able.

How will this affect me?
Tram customers
There will be no Nottingham tram service between Royal Centre and Nottingham Station from 20 June until 19 July inclusive.
This means:
- Trams from Hucknall and Phoenix Park will terminate at Royal Centre
- Trams from Clifton South and Toton Lane will terminate at Nottingham Station
- Old Market Square and Lace Market tram stops will be closed
- A revised timetable will be in operation

- Due to the timetable changes, trams will not be running before 6am and after midnight during the works
- A dedicated replacement bus service will run every 7-10 minutes between Royal Centre and Nottingham Station.

Please allow some additional time for your journey
In light of the current social distancing guidelines, where possible we would encourage customers to walk, instead of using the bus. The walk between Royal Centre and Nottingham Station takes around 15-20 minutes.
Customers should continue to follow the recommendations in place to help them stay safe when using the tram.

Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram for the latest updates during the works.
Full service will resume on Monday 20 July.
Motorists
To enable the works to take place, road closures will be in force on Market Street and Upper Parliament Street:
- Market Street closure, both lanes, Saturday 20 June to Friday 10 July
- Upper Parliament Street closure (Market Street open to buses on the southbound lane), Saturday 11 July to Sunday 19 July
Diversions will be signposted. Footways and pedestrian access to properties will remain open at all times during the works.

Please note these dates may be subject to change – updates will be posted here and publicised through our social media channels.
