Why HMRC publishes the names
HMRC publishes details of people and businesses penalised for deliberate tax errors or deliberately failing to meet their tax obligations.
Publication takes place once penalties are final, including after any appeal has been resolved or the deadline to appeal has passed.
The September list was published on 24 September 2026. HMRC updated its publication on 2 October, removing entries involving tax or duty below £50,000 following a change to the publication threshold.
The figures show the tax on which qualifying penalties were based and the penalties charged. They do not necessarily represent the taxpayer’s full default or establish how much remains unpaid.
HMRC also cautions that those named may have changed their behaviour or moved address. Businesses now operating at listed premises may be unrelated or under different management.
