Official opening event for new Stapleford skate park announced

An afternoon of free skatepark-related activities are on offer to local people in Stapleford on Saturday 11 April to celebrate the official opening of the new Pasture Road Skatepark.

The opening event will also signal the start of a programme of free coached skateboarding sessions running through the summer.

The new skatepark has been attracting people of all ages since it opened in December. The skatepark’s design and construction, the opening event, and the programme of sessions have all been funded from the £21.1m Stapleford Towns Fund alongside a £100,000 grant from the FCC Community Action Fund.

The opening event comprises of three free sessions, organised by Canvas and local community non-profit Skate Nottingham, for skateboarders, quad and inline roller skaters and BMXers.

12.30pm: Coached skateboarding session age 7+. Helmets and skateboards will be provided.

1.30pm: An all-wheels open ‘jam’ for women and girls.

2.30pm-4pm: Open ‘jam’ for all wheels, all ages, with music, prizes, giveaways and experienced skateboarders and BMXers.

(A jam is an informal competition with all abilities welcome, and prizes given for both trick difficulty and for attempts and effort)

Pop-up workshops for all ages will also be on offer for families, children and adults.

Car parking will be limited, so please travel by public transport or use alternative parking at the Stapleford Community Pavilion on Hickings Lane.
