Police release images after burglary – is this stolen jewellery yours?

Officers are trying to locate the rightful owners of a jewellery haul seized from a jailed burglar.

Rings, necklaces, bracelets and watches were among the valuables found by police when they arrested Jesse Blacknell.

The valuables were all discovered either in Blacknell’s home or in the Ford Transit van he had used before and after burgling two houses.

Both break-ins happened at homes in the Spring Lane area of Mapperley, firstly on 6 March this year and then a few weeks later, on 27 March.

Having checked available CCTV footage and conducted further inquiries, officers were able to identify the man responsible and arrested him in the Hucknall area at the start of April.

Stolen property was duly discovered and returned to its rightful owners, with Blacknell, of Chatsworth Drive, Hucknall, going on to plead guilty to two charges of burglary.

He was subsequently sentenced to three years and four months behind bars when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on 8 May.

Despite that court result, the investigation has continued for the officers involved in the case – not to find the culprit but to return stolen property to its rightful owners.

On that note, police can now release three images of a selection of watches and jewellery found in Blacknell’s possession that they believe was stolen, but not during the two Mapperley break-ins.

PC David Williams, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“While we were obviously pleased to see Jesse Blacknell sent to prison, we’ve not yet been able to return all the stolen property recovered.

“As such, we’d ask anybody who believes they’ve been burgled and has lost jewellery to give these pictures a close look to see if they recognise any of the valuables in them.

“We completely appreciate the distress a burglary can cause and that the pain of losing an item like this might not just be linked to its monetary value, but often its sentimental value too.

“If you recognise any of the pieces of jewellery in these pictures, please get in touch with us, as we’d love to be able to return your property to you and potentially find some answers for any other unsolved offences too.”

The police can be contacted directly by calling 101, quoting casefile number 31CF0514026.
